KICK OFF MEETING ACT4 PROJECT

The Kick-Off Meeting of the “ACT4” project, organized by the INF-ACT Foundation (Lead Hub) in collaboration with the University of Cagliari, will be held on 17 September 2026 at Palazzo Baffi (Sant’Ignazio Campus – University of Cagliari). It represents an important opportunity to present the activities that will be carried out over the next three years and to illustrate how the proposed initiatives will contribute to the development of the regions of Southern Italy and to consolidating a nationwide network of excellence in the field of innovative diagnostics for 4P medicine (predictive, preventive, personalized, and participatory).

The ACT4 Project builds on the experience of the INF-ACT Extended Partnership on infectious diseases, funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR) under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) – Mission 4, Component 2. It integrates innovative technologies in omics sciences, cellular imaging, immunology, bioinformatics, and artificial intelligence to develop advanced diagnostic methods that can be readily transferred to clinical practice. The Project is structured around three lines of action. The first, ACT4HEALTH, focuses on innovative diagnostic technologies for the implementation of 4P medicine, supporting the development of the most promising projects through to their practical application. The second, ACT4TECH, will create a distributed hub for technological innovation aimed at developing new diagnostic techniques for communicable and non-communicable diseases. Finally, the third line, ACT4TRAIN, will establish advanced training programmes supporting health technologies and innovative diagnostics, aimed in particular at researchers and professionals working in SMEs and research centres based in the regions of Southern Italy.

The Project is implemented within the framework of the National Research, Innovation and Competitiveness Programme for the Green and Digital Transition 2021–2027 (PN RIC 2021–2027), an initiative supported by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and managed by the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy (MIMIT), together with the Ministry of University and Research (MUR) and the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security (MASE).
